I need privacy. Not because my actions are questionable, but because your judgement and intentions are.

@whilelm
Everyone here claims the right to #privacy but immediately asserts their #gender, their #beliefs whatever they may be or believe. When some don't go as far as to tell their moods or their most intimate life.
Paradox?

@legeneralmidi @whilelm No. The point is that it must be up to you what to voluntarily disclose.

@legeneralmidi @whilelm ... and at what time, and to whom / in what context.

@whilelm

C'est de loin la meilleure réponse à "I have nothing to hide"...

@Roland c'est pas toi qui posait la question il y a longtemps ?

@Roland

Comment répondre à ceux qui disent n'avoir rien à cacher.

@whilelm big tech: best I can do is to share your data with others in a secure way.

@whilelm
One thing I often reply to the "I've got nothing to hide" crowd is that *you* don't get to choose what will be used against you. Think insurance or visa application for example.

As in the famous (but disputed) quote by Richelieu : "If you give me six lines written by the hand of the most honest of men, I will find something in them which will hang him."

@whilelm one of the best definitions for the need of privacy I've heard

@whilelm That is quite the best description of the issues behind the attacks on the right to privacy I have ever seen. Thank you.

@whilelm This is exactly the way I think about this; however, you managed to say it in a much more concise way. :D

@whilelm
If you're a good person you'd still have things to hide from bad people, that's why you need privacy.

@whilelm
you need privacy because whatever you do, may be a crime but you don't know about it.
